Obama Close to Announcing Executive Actions on Immigration

As reported by the New York Times and Fox News, President Obama will announce his final plan on executive actions on immigration as early as next week. Still no firm details at this time, but the initial reports are that the plan may offer deferred action to undocumented parents of U.S. citizens who have resided in the U.S. for some period of time and may expand the existing Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program by reducing the required period of presence in the U.S. It is important to note that these are initial reports; nothing is definite until the President makes his official announcement. Also, as with the DACA program, enrollment will not likely begin immediately as it will take some time for USCIS to set the rules and procedures for the application process.
