DOS Resumes I-130 Processing
March 21, 2007
The U.S. Department of State announced today that consular posts can resume processing of I-130 petitions filed by U.S. citizens residing abroad. I-130 processing had been terminated due to background search requirements of the Adam Walsh Act that DOS was unable to meet. DOS has worked with U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services to develop a mechanism for performing the required checks and is thus able to begin receiving I-130 petitions again, effective immediately.
