House “Gang” Works It Out

Members of the House of Representatives who have been working on a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill announced today that they had reached an “agreement in principle.”  This is encouraging news as House Republicans yesterday threatened to back out of the group if an agreement had not been reached today.  No details yet on the House plan, but it will undoubtedly reflect a more conservative approach than the Senate bill currently being debated.  Just a reminder on the process:  the Senate must pass a bill and the House must pass a bill and then those bills must be merged and the product of that merger returned to each chamber for final approval.
